If you are building a timber sleeper wall, they too have regulations around how high you can take them, what size timbers they need to be etc.

For example, if you build a timber retaining wall, it cannot be higher than 1000mm. If it is higher than 1000mm you need engineering and building approval.

If it is 1000mm high, it has to be built from 200x75mm timbers both horizontally and vertically. The depth of the vertical posts also needs to be 1000mm into the ground with a concrete pad around it up to ground level. The vertical 200×75 posts need to be spaced every 1200mm. In a perfect world it would also lean 50mm inwards to strengthen the wall.
